The Communication DEALL program has been developed by Dr. Prathibha Karanth, a pioneer in the field of Speech-Language Pathology in India. It was developed for children with communication disorders such as Specific Language Impairment (SLI), Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) / Autism (ASD) and Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia (DVD). It aims at intensive early intervention for these children in order to integrate them in regular schools to the extent possible. In just five years, the program has expanded to 6 units and earned accolades from parents and professionals for its efficacy.

From 1993 to 2001 Prathibha Karanth worked with Tito aka Rajrishi Mukhophadyay, a gifted autistic child who could talk about his autism. While her work with him was influenced to a great extent by her experience in the area of neurobehavioral disorders, the Communication DEALL program itself is an offshoot of her work with Tito, and was fittingly inaugurated by Tito on November 1, 2000.

The theoretical framework within which the communication DEALL program has been developed is that these communication disorders are caused by subtle neurological disorders, which cause several sensory processing as well as motor executive dysfunctions in the growing child. The communication, social, behavioral and cognitive differences seen in them is viewed as consequences of the more basic sensory motor deficits rather than as the core deficit.
